APRIL 2006 - Maravu's new top Bure soon to be opened The 'Treehouse' Maravu Plantation Beach Resort & Spa is very pleased to announce an exciting new addition in the works at the Resort. We are currently constructing a new Bure that will be known simply as "The Treehouse". The Treehouse will be the finest and largest accommodation at Maravu. Connected to the Resort via a 150-metre long wooden pathway, The Treehouse will be located on a prime piece of our rainforest property, high above the trees, attached to a large raintree, providing wonderful views and privacy and seclusion. It will feature lavish decks integrated with the raintree, and will have large open living spaces. There will be two full indoor bathrooms as well as an outdoor, open-air bathroom. On the deck will be a state of the art Jacuzzi pool in a private, Venetian-glass walled courtyard that can be opened to the seaside. Like all of Maravu's accommodations, The Treehouse will have air-conditioning (in both the bedroom and living room), as well as a CD stereo and a fully stocked mini-bar. The finest of linens, as well as spectacular palm wood furniture and original artwork help make The Treehouse a truly luxurious experience. Magnificent sea views will be enjoyed from all aspects of the bure, including the bathrooms, outdoor shower, and Jacuzzi pool. The bedroom and the living room can be completely separated, and since there is a second full bathroom attached to the living room, The Treehouse will easily accommodate up to four guests. The Treehouse will be available for new reservations as of 1 June 2006. The Rack Rate for The Treehouse will be US$325 per person per night (based on double occupancy, not including tax). This nightly rate will include full American breakfast, transfers to/from Matei Airport, and our free Maravu activities, including horseback riding, snorkelling, sea kayaking, mountain biking, guided plantation hikes, Fiji storytelling, kava ceremonies, weekly Fijian Meke and Lovo, and entertainment from our house band. Included in the nightly rate is a wonderful Treehouse Package, that includes two Maravu massages (25 minutes each), fresh fruit basket, 2 Sulus, a half-day trip to romantic Bouma Waterfalls, and a half-day tour of Taveuni's stunning West Coast. The Treehouse will be promoted and sold using our Stay/Pay specials (Stay 6/Pay 5, Stay 8/Pay 6), that are valid for travel through 31 March 2007. FEBRUARY 2006 - What's New at Maravu? Maravu's Dining Room Addition We are very proud to announce several new and exciting changes at Maravu Plantation Beach Resort & Spa. The most visible change guests will notice is the extension of our traditional thatched-roof dining room to allow for additional seating. This addition extends towards the tropical gardens around the pool. Our traditional Fijian-inspired dining room boasts original artwork, wood carvings, local Fijian hardwood floors, and blends in beautifully with the natural surroundings that makes Maravu so special. Maravu has long been known as featuring fine island cuisine and one of Fiji's finest wine cellars. We continue to upgrade our dining options, and keep adding to our wine list. Please note that we can accommodate any special dietary requests, as well as arrange for private romantic dining options at special locations throughout the resort. Changes in Maravu Bure Categories We are proud to announce the completion of recent renovations and improvements in several of our bures at Maravu, as well as changes in bure categories. Our Honeymoon Bures have recently been renovated, with Italian Tile and new fittings added to the bathrooms. We have also just completed the re-finishing of the hardwood floors. Two of our free-standing Deluxe Bures (the bures near the Oceanview Spa Villas) have been re-categorized as Honeymoon Bures, as the quality of the bures, their seclusion and privacy, and the river-rock courtyards with outdoor showers and spa Jacuzzi tubs make them the same as our current Honeymoon Bures. With these additions, we currently feature seven Honeymoon Bures. Two of our Planters Bures have been upgraded with air-conditioning, as well as the addition of river-rock courtyards with open-air showers and spa Jacuzzi tubs. These are now categorized as Deluxe Bures. We now feature three Deluxe Bures, all of which are in duplex form (two Deluxe Bures are attached to each other, and one Deluxe Bure is attached to a Honeymoon Bure). Our remaining two Planters Bures (duplex units) now feature air-conditioning -- now all of our bures and villas have air-conditioning. What does this mean for those already booked? Any guest that has been confirmed in a Planters Bure will be guaranteed either a Planters Bure, or will receive a complimentary upgrade to our Deluxe Bure. We can not specify which bure they will receive, but they will at least receive the Planters Bure, which is what they were confirmed. For guests that have been confirmed in Deluxe Bures, they will receive either the Deluxe Bure, or receive an upgrade to one of our Honeymoon Bures. This upgrade can not be guaranteed, and will only be offered at time of check-in. Starting immediately, all of our bures have been re-categorized and will be sold according to this new status. Please note that due to our small, intimate size, we are only able to guarantee your bure/villa category, not a specific bure. The only exception to this bure assignment would be the preference given to return guests, who may request (but not be guaranteed) a specific bure. What's next at Maravu? We are very excited to announce our plans to add a new accommodation option at Maravu Plantation Beach Resort & Spa. In early June, we will begin offering our new Treehouse Bure. This new Treehouse Bure will set a new standard of accommodation at Maravu, and will be set towards the back of the Resort, offering privacy and amazing treetop-, ocean- and island-views. This exciting new bure will have a spacious bedroom and sitting room, and feature a river-rock courtyard with an open-air shower and spa Jacuzzi tub. We will also include special Treehouse 'bonuses', similar to our Honeymoon and Spa packages. Stay tuned for news, photos and more! We are adding a new and wonderful Beach Bar adjacent to Maravu's private white sand beach. Guests can enjoy a full array of bar items from April 2006 onwards. Also, we now offer some great beach volleyball games - Maravu staff vs. Maravu Guests! Specials, Bonuses and More We feature some exciting specials for your guests, including a Last Minute Stay/Pay specials that offer not only one or two FREE nights in paradise but also an upgrade to the next higher Bure category. Take advantage of our last minute special Stay 5/Pay 4 and Stay 7/Pay 5 offer, valid until 31st May 2006. In addition to these specials, we also feature some exciting Adventure, Romance and Dive packages where our guests can enjoy savings on some of our most popular activities and excursions. Anyone staying in our Honeymoon Suite automatically receives our wonderful Honeymoon Package, that includes a complimentary bottle of chilled champagne, a fresh fruit basket, his and hers Sulus, an excursion to the seclusion of Honeymoon Island, and a half-day trip to the beautiful and romantic Bouma Waterfalls. A stay in our fantastic Oceanview Spa Villas automatically receive our very popular Spa Package, that includes two Maravu Massages (25 minutes each), two traditional Fijian scalp massages (15 minutes each), two Pure Fiji body scrubs (25 minutes each), and two Maravu Bathrobes. Please click here for www.Tripadvisor.com APRIL 2005 - Extension works completed: In the first quarter 2005 we have been busy completing our other two new Oceanview Spa Villas and two new Deluxe Bures. They are located on a prime piece of property next to the Resort. Currently Maravu is a 90 acre private property with 20 Bures nestled in a tropical Garden, (which was formerly a Coconut Plantation), Hilltop Sunset Garden, Beach, Oceanview Side and Rainforest. The Oceanview Spa Villas and the Deluxe Bures are connected with the existing Resort area via a 100 meter long walking bridge. The Oceanview Spa Villas accommodate our guests' every whim. They feature both an inside nd outside shower, lavish decks with either an integrated tree (providing a tree house effect) or high above the beach (giving the feeling of an eagles nest), heart-shaped Jacuzzi Plunge Pool in a private, stone wall surrounded courtyard (which can be opened to the seaside), air conditioning in both the bedroom and sitting room, CD-Player and a fully stocked mini bar. The Four Poster King-size bed with baldachin comes with the finest linen and boasts spectacular palm wood furniture and unique artwork. One of the two new Oceanview Spa Villas is located on the edge of a hill, providing an eagles nest effect. The views from this Villa are least described stunning and breathtaking. The other Oceanview Spa Villa is located in the back and in between two other Oceanview Spa Villas. The views are also excellent since you have not only oceanview but also overlooking a large part of Maravu Resort. This Villa is also oversized in comparison with the other ones. The two Deluxe Bures have partial seaview and also a stone wall surrounded courtyard with an outside shower and Jacuzzi. They are located below the Oceanview Spa Villas and also have nice views into the resort area and coconut plantation. FEBRUARY 2005 - Maravu Resort receives some of the best hotel reviews in Fiji "The most wonderful spot!", "The Best All Inclusive Resort in Fiji", "Honeymoon Dream Come True", "A DREAM vacation"" ... View www.TripAdvisor.com According to Tripadvisor, Maravu Plantation resort is the most popular hotel in Fiji ... View www.TripAdvisor.com JUNE 2004 - Million Dollar upgrade at Maravu Plantation completed Last year Maravu added a new gym and completed four new Honeymoon Suites, each of which have their own very individual and private outside spa. The state of art Jacuzzis contain almost 1000 Gallons of fresh Taveuni Water, which can be heated within a short time to 35 Degrees Celsius. In the first quarter of 2004 the Honeymoon Bures have been totally refurbished and Jacuzzi plunge pools have been added to the private, stone-wall surrounded courtyards. The Spas are high tech with Hydrotherapy Massage Jets and can be filled with fresh, hot, warm or cold water at our guests' fingertips. The Reception, Hilltop Wedding Bure, Boutique, Bar and Massage Bure have been relocated, extended and redesigned to match international 5-star standards even though the 2004/05 rates are not reflective of these changes. Added to this is a total behind-the-scene overhaul, in particular the kitchen and power plant. Further works are completed on two new Bures called "Oceanview Spa Villas". They are located on a prime piece of property next to the Resort. Currently Maravu is a 90 acre private property with 16 Bures nestled in a tropical Garden, which was a former Coconut Plantation, Hilltop Sunset Garden, Beach, Ocean view Side and Rainforest. The new development is connected with the existing Resort area via a 100 meter long walking bridge. These new Villas accommodate our guests' every whim. They feature both an inside & outside shower, lavish decks with an integrated tree (providing a tree house effect), heart shaped Jacuzzi Plunge Pool in a private, stone wall surrounded courtyard (which can be opened to the seaside), air conditioning in both the bedroom and sitting room, CD-Player and a fully stocked mini bar. The Four Poster King-size bed with baldachin comes with the finest linen and boasts spectacular palm wood furniture and unique artwork. Both Bures feature magnificent 180-degree sea views from all aspects of the bure, outside shower and Jacuzzi. Included in the rate for the Oceanview Spa Villa is a Spa Package consisting of two Maravu bath robes, two Maravu Massages (25 minutes each), two traditional Fijian scalp massages (15 minutes each) and two Pure Fiji body scrubs (25 minutes each), all gourmet meals, transfers to/from Matei Airport, free Resort-Activities and all taxes. Whichever way you choose, you will still receive the best offer via your preferred agent or wholesaler. Please note also that whatever you can find here on this website will be valid for any agent or wholesaler booking as well! Taveuni Island - listed in 'Islands' Magazine guide to "The World's Most Alluring Places"! "The Enchanted South Pacific ... Taveuni is sometimes called Fiji's "Garden Isle", and while it has spectacular landscapes, the island is best known for its diving - some of the finest in the South Pacific. But this is not diving for the novice. Sites in the Somosomo Strait, a narrow channel between Taveuni and the larger island of Vanua Levu, are renowned for their amazing walls of soft corals - and for the strong currents that can unsettle beginning divers. For the experienced, the rewards of diving the famed 20-mile-long Rainbow Reef include tropical fish beyond count (one site that lives up to its name: The Fish Factory, home to rainbow-coloured corals that attract schools of golden damselfish and blue-and-gold fusiliers), plus sharks, sea snakes, and manta rays. Taveuni's has plenty of topside attractions, too, from traditional Fijian villages to tropical rain forests adorned with ferns and orchids, laced with hundreds of waterfalls, and populated by a curious collection of native birds (including the Peale's pigeon, whose call sounds like the barks of a dog). The hiking may be as rewarding as the diving. And there's even a nine-hole golf course, but you didn't really come here to work on your short irons, right?" By Mary Schmich Did you know, that the newest novel of Jostein Gaarder ("Maya") takes place at Maravu Plantation Resort? "The novel is set in Madrid and on the unspoiled Fijian island of Taveuni. Frank Andersen, a Norwegian evolutionary biologist who feels "oppressed by the grief that the lack of spirit and permanence in our existence brings", meets up with a beautiful Spanish Flamenco dancer, Ana, her companion Jose, and an English writer from Croydon, John Spoke. They then discuss the big issues. This is where the problem arises; there is too much discussion of ideas and not enough emotional involvement or development of characters. They exist merely as mouthpieces for different theories. Gaarder then adds a bewildering supernatural dimension. There is Ana and Jose's manifesto, a mystical dialogue that describes the creation and evolution process in a series of self-consciously obscure metaphors to consider; hints of past lives; a time-travelling dwarf; and an enigmatic photograph. All this excitement sits uneasily with the almost pedantic prose style. Gaarder's forte is to incorporate challenging themes into a flowing, imaginative narrative. The author's earlier novel, Sophie's World, has been a phenomenal success; the novel has sold over 16 million copies, been translated into 42 languages and is a whistle-stop tour of philosophy, from Socrates to Sartre". by Eithne Farry "A chance meeting on the Fijian island of Taveuni (at Maravu Plantation Resort) is the trigger for a fascinating and mysterious novel that intertwines the stories of John Spooke, an English author who is grieving for his dead wife; Frank Andersen, a Norwegian evolutionary biologist estranged from his wife Vera, and an enigmatic Spanish couple, Ana and Jose, who are absorbed in their love for each other. Their stories are so strewn with mysteries and illusions that it is hard to say where one ends and the next begins, or if the accounts the characters give of themselves can be believed. Why does Ana bear such a close resemblance to the model for Goya's famous Maja paintings? What is the significance of the Joker as he steps out of his pack of cards? As the action moves from Fiji to Spain, from the present to the past, unfolding further stories within the stories, the novel reveals an astonishing richness and complexity. Maya debates and unravels the questions that give meaning to the lives of the characters - and to our own. At the same time it explores our ideas of the necessity for love. As bold and imaginative in its sweep as Sophie's World, it shows again that Jostein Gaarder's unique and special gift is to make us wonder at the awe-inspiring mystery of the universe" ... by Amazon |
